079: Risky Business: Saying Yes to Rejection with the Ladies Behind Badassery Magazine

Today we chat about what it means to say yes or no to something. I'm stoked that we've got BOTH Samatha Parker and Kathy Rasmussen with us. I really just love what they're putting out into the world and knew they would have a LOT to say on this month's topic of Risk and Rejection! We talk about how risk and rejection have played a part in the start of their new magazine, partnership, and business.

ps047: The Upside of Taking Risks with EMILY ANN PETERSON

ps047: The Upside of Taking Risks with EMILY ANN PETERSON

This week I'm preparing to leave my temporary home base of Atlanta to venture out into over 45 days of book readings, live performances, and workshops throughout the US. Since this month's theme in the School of Bravery and here on the podcast is Risk & Rejection, I thought I'd take a couple minutes before packing up my suitcase to talk about the upside of risk and the benefits it offers.

078: Hiding Under Desks, Prioritizing Pain & Other Hard Things with JESSICA RIBERA

078: Hiding Under Desks, Prioritizing Pain & Other Hard Things with JESSICA RIBERA

Today I have to thank Jessica Ribera for being so willing and open to jump into our conversation so blindly. She and I talk about the moments we share while dealing with our respective pains and losses. Jessica lost her ballet career. I lost my career as a cellist. Today we both find ourselves using the word writer as a self-descriptor. Jessica and I both retain our emotional sobriety today, however we do talk about the moments we denied our lack of emotional sobriety and instead tried to numb or deny the pain we were so vividly fighting to feel. We talk about writing. We talk about being honest. We talk about career-ending injuries. We talk about gaining, losing, and regaining our vision for the possibility. Please enjoy my brand new friend Jessica Ribera!

072: The Audacious Luxury of Ego and Being Bald with Ann Rousseau

Filmmaker and yoga teacher Ann Hedly Rousseau is with us today! She is a mother, wife, dancer, yoga student and instructor, gardener, and lover of life who happens to have alopecia. Ann recently finished her film Mop Cap: An Alopecia Story which lays out her latest hair loss journey. It was so fascinating to hear Ann work through some of these questions about identity, ego, compensation, and image. I knew I had to have her on the Bare Naked Bravery podcast and I'm so glad it worked out.

068: Daring to Rest with KAREN BRODY

Today we have Karen Brody with us! Karen had a long personal history of severe panic attacks until she found yoga nidra meditation over a decade ago. She signed up for a yoga nidra meditation class simply looking to lie down for a nap. What she got was “the best nap of her life.” It is such an honor to introduce you to the power of rest and to the wonderful Karen Brody.

MJ Fitzpatrick is a dynamite Australian and I'm super stoked to have him on the show today. He's got a story that even though the details might be different from yours and mine, the experience, the pain, the tribulation, the total hell he went through might still be very similar to yours.

ps035: Encouragement When You Need to Hear It the Most

We're spending today's peep show episode in the realm of the real bravery I'm experiencing right now. I'm doing the final revisions of the Bare Naked Bravery book this month. It's kinda terrifying, but fortunately something happened which we talk about today.
