Jonathan DeWaal is the executive director of Liminal Space, a nonprofit organization based out of Seattle, WA which is dedicated to helping others find the courage and means to navigate major life transition. Over the last 10 years his work and research has shown that major transitions are places where people can find their desired path and become stronger, or where they can get stuck – sometimes for years.
Anybody who has ever done something new for the first time will tell you it's a bit stressful. Ask any entrepreneur how their stress-life is and they'll most likely tell you they're hanging by a thread. I say that from experience, because I've been all versions of stress management as an entrepreneur. But where does this stress come from? Well, Benjamin Dell, founder and CEO at Missinglettr.com is here with us today to chat briefly about just that.
Today we chat about what it means to say yes or no to something. I'm stoked that we've got BOTH Samatha Parker and Kathy Rasmussen with us. I really just love what they're putting out into the world and knew they would have a LOT to say on this month's topic of Risk and Rejection! We talk about how risk and rejection have played a part in the start of their new magazine, partnership, and business.
Today I have to thank Jessica Ribera for being so willing and open to jump into our conversation so blindly. She and I talk about the moments we share while dealing with our respective pains and losses. Jessica lost her ballet career. I lost my career as a cellist. Today we both find ourselves using the word writer as a self-descriptor. Jessica and I both retain our emotional sobriety today, however we do talk about the moments we denied our lack of emotional sobriety and instead tried to numb or deny the pain we were so vividly fighting to feel. We talk about writing. We talk about being honest. We talk about career-ending injuries. We talk about gaining, losing, and regaining our vision for the possibility. Please enjoy my brand new friend Jessica Ribera!
Liis Windischmann is with us today! Liis is a curvy model and a TV personality who is a massive advocate for wellness, body love, and consciously creating epic lives. Today Liis and I are talking about Power of Choice. I knew she'd be a great person for this subject because there's no way someone would choose to advocate for anything if they didn't know how to utilize their personal power of choice. But Liis and I also discuss the smaller, more common versions of utilizing your power of choice. So if you're feeling a little bit boxed into a corner today or like you're being victimized in some form or fashion (even by your own self!) then today's episode is for you.
Today we have a sequel episode with Karin Stevens! (If you haven't listened to her previous episode, I dropped a link to it in the show notes for this episode.) Karin is a choreographer based in the Seattle area. It turns out that she's been doing more writing lately and she sent me an email the other day with a question. I immediately knew this question should become a podcast episode.
Fabienne Raphaël is a super rad consultant to folks looking to leave their corporate day-job into the online business world. Fabienne and I met online because we were both building similar kinds of excitement with our businesses. Even if you're not a business owner, I know you'll glean so much from this conversation, as we discuss solutions that can apply to ANY person or situation.
